Electronics Research Institute

The Electronics Research Institute was established in 1972 as the Electronics Research Center at Sharif University of Technology and was transformed into the Electronics Research Institute in 1996. The institute’s scientific activities focus on three main specialized areas: electronics, computer science, and telecommunications. These activities include conducting pivotal research, engaging in multidisciplinary studies, developing and advancing cutting-edge technologies, offering educational programs at the master’s and doctoral levels, and organizing specialized training courses, conferences, and scientific seminars.

The Electronics Research Institute is considered one of the first research centers at Sharif University of Technology. Throughout its operation, it has successfully executed dozens of major research and industrial projects, from the highest scientific levels recognized globally to the final stage of industrial prototype development. The institute is also one of the pioneering centers in the fields of cryptographic communications, electronic warfare, radar systems and networks, signal processing, multi-technology instrumentation systems, and audio and video signal processing in the country. It has achieved numerous scientific and technological accolades in its specialized fields.

The Electronics Research Institute is the founder of information cryptography science in the country and one of the main founders of the National Cryptography Association. Since 2008, the institute has been responsible for offering a master’s program in cryptographic communications at Sharif University of Technology in collaboration with the university’s Electrical Engineering Department. To date, it has completed numerous projects at the master’s and doctoral levels in this field.
